Adults and fatigue

What is fatigue in adults with CP – what causes it and how do we measure it?

The project aims to investigate the background for the development of fatigue in adults with CP and identify possible interventions to relieve the fatigue.

This is a 3-year Ph.D.-project, which will include investigating physiological and psychological causes of fatigue. Fatigue is a complex phenomenon that can arise due to various challenges, for example motor control, muscular changes, energy consumption as well as psychological factors. We wish to study these problems from multiple angles by measuring muscle function, metabolism, cardiovascular fitness and brain function (electroencephalography). This way we can compose a theory of the different factors that affect the experience of fatigue during everyday life and then continue our work on how to reduce fatigue.
